Black Thursday is the day that ABATE of Idaho engages with Idaho legislators to educate and advocate for our cause.
Again this year, we will be talking with them about profiling of motorcyclists.
Profiling of motorcyclists because of the bikes they ride or the clothes they wear continues to be a major problem in the state. Law enforcement stops bikers for contrived reasons, shows up in force at biker events, and treats the community like second-class citizens.
Most people, bikers included, just have no idea of all the profiling that is happening in Idaho — or the seriousness of the problem. We will try to bring awareness to the Capitol. Please join us in this effort. The more people that show up at the Capitol, will make a heavier impression on the Legislators, which works in our favor.
We have been so close to getting this bill passed in prior years, losing by only one vote last year. The push-back from the law enforcement community was underhanded and devious, and spilled over into hearings which were clearly one-sided.
We are working hard for a better outcome.
